If you're a realist or a pessimist, this is your anthem - optimists, this song isn't for you so scram! The chorus melody is possibly the most sing-along thing we've written to date but the lyrics essentially say that you can try all you want to better yourself and claim some agency and dignity in life but ultimately we're all just flailing around out here trying to mask the fact we lost control of the wheel long ago. This is of course not how anyone feels all of the time, but isn't it nice to have a feel-good tune to sing for when you do?
lyrics
You won’t stop the wheels from turning
Round and round
You can’t stop the gears from churning
You can read the terms of service
And read them again
You can write a book you can go to church
All you mathematicians, statisticians
Signing your petitions, listen
This is how it works
You won’t stop the wheels from turning
Round and round
You can’t stop the gears from churning
You won’t stop the wheels from turning
Round and round
You can’t stop the fire from burning
Someone’s cut the breaks on this contraption
We’re quickly gaining traction
There is no turning back so
So sit back relax
Make a silly face as a distraction
To those too dumb to grasp that
Impact is at the end of the tracks for
This thing called
Life, it’s just a hill
Life it’s just a hill.
Life it’s just a hill
And we are all
Just rolling down
Life, it’s just a hill
Life it’s just a hill.
Life it’s just a hill
And we are all
Just rolling down
You won’t stop the wheels from turning
Round and round
You can’t stop the gears from churning
You won’t stop the wheels from turning
Round and round
You can’t stop the fire from burning
Can’t stop propellers from twirling
Round and round
Can’t stop the engines from whirring
Won’t stop the money from flowing
In and out
Can’t stop the weeds from growing
You won’t stop the wheels from turning
Round and round
You can’t stop the gears from churning
You won’t stop the wheels from turning
Round and round
You can’t stop the fire from burning
We are just rolling
We are just, we are just
We are just rolling
We are just, we are just
We are just rolling
We are just, we are just
We are just rolling
We are just, we are just
