The Ball 03:05 video
You have not seen nothing yet Oh guess who dropped the ball Who dropped the ball? When there’s a scandal and you’re handling it, Let the intern take the fall When will we know once and for all Who dropped the ball? When are you gonna drop dead? When are you gonna drop dead? How do you sleep at night? Well you know what’s worst of all What’s off the wall Who had the gaul Who made the call Who dropped the ball? And we are all in need of rescue ‘Cause it’s you who burnt the bridge, Who burnt the bridge There’s no denying it now The collective thinking is Yes the ship is sinking Now the water’s at our hips It’s just a case of how not if You sank the ship When are you gonna drop dead? When are you gonna drop dead? How do you sleep at night? How do you justify it? Why is it you must deny it? When will you make it make sense? When will you make it make sense? How do you sleep at night? Shoulda never made the trip Your fingertips Have lost their grip You made the slip You sank the ship Let’s get today out the way And in the rearview mirror Let’s get today out the way And in the rearview mirror Let’s get this bleak fucking week In the rearview mirror Let’s get this bleak fucking week In the rearview mirror Let’s get this year Outta here in our rearview mirror Let’s get this year Outta here in our rearview mirror Let’s get this year Outta here and in our rearview mirror Let’s get this year Outta here and in our rearview mirror When are you gonna drop dead? When are you gonna drop dead? When will you make it make sense? When will you make it make sense? How do you sleep at night? How do you justify it? Why is it you must deny it? How do you sleep at night? And why do we always fall for it? You’re called to it Maybe we’ve all just dropped the ball

It was the same Routine and There was nothing unusual Nothing untoward and you will laugh At me when I confess there’s a mess That I struggle to suppress I’m on fire I’m on fire In this burning room Oh yes I’m on fire but I think it will go out soon Well there were points And panic There was mumbling rumbling All around the water cooler I’d have had it In control without all Of them fixing up a fuss And now my ears are burning Just like the desk is burning No doubt the smoke’s alarming Who’s it harming? Try to keep cool Cause it’s all by the by I’m on fire I’m on fire In this burning room Take what action you require but I think you should know I’m on fire I’m on fire In this burning room It appears that I’m on fire but I think it will go out Soon It’s just a minor affliction, I wouldn’t pay it any mind if I were you Despite the general depiction It’s just a small room As it burns Don’t affirm the crime It’s benign I’m unharmed It’s just a small room you can silence the alarm But I’m on fire I’m on fire In this burning room Just a body upon a pyre but I think you should know I’m on fire I’m on fire In this burning room I’ll admit that I’m on fire but I hope it will go out soon

(Oh well it’s easy living) That’s why they call me the best of the best Architects in the urbanised West (Oh well it’s easy living) It’s easy living for me An architecture degree Can get you where you really need to be Lesson one This is not a park bench For some folks around this in an apartment But once they’ve slept, they’ll object to be being charged rent What am I to do? Here comes lesson two Well can we lean it up? Can we tilt it down? It’s ill-advised to try lying in it you’ll fall out Let’s put a little Armrest in the middle So that we can limit all the types of people sitting in it You know you’d better think twice Before you come into my town You know it isn’t very nice To outstay your welcome in my town (Oh well it’s easy living) You want to live in the best of the best of the best Yes? Well I guess (Oh well it’s easy living) You’re better sticking with me My architecture degree Can get you where you really need to be Lesson three Believe me, it’s not a bus stop Can’t you see it’s a free room and it must stop Let’s make the benches slimmer So they won’t be hanging around come winter Everyone’s a winner Everyone’s a winner You know you’d better think twice Before you come into my town You know it isn’t very nice To outstay your welcome in my Let there be light, let there be land Let there be spikes under our bridges Let there be water and food to eat Let there be concrete Let there be light, let there be land Let there be spikes under our bridges Let there be water and food to eat Let there be concrete Let there be light, let there be land Let there be spikes under our bridges Let there be water and food to eat Let there be concrete You know you’d better think twice Before you come into my town You know it isn’t very nice To outstay your welcome in my town Ooh you know you’d better think twice Before you break into my town Well if you’re looking for advice You’ll never make it in my town

Free Parking 03:16
These plastic people, plastic people, plastic people are quick They’re driving in their plastic cars, they need plastic permits If it is cheap all of these people want a decent bargain Where will we park these plastic people? There’s nothing like it There’s nothing like it There’s nothing like it Around here There’s nothing like it There’s nothing like it There’s nothing like it Around here Four miles (four miles) Five miles (five miles) For free parking Six miles (six miles) Seven miles (seven miles) For free parking We go on (we go on) We go on (we go on) We go on We go on We go on We go on, we go on, we go These plastic people’s plastic permits only work in the week How can they meet their plastic pals if they can’t park on the cheap? This isn’t feasible or reasonable these people agree, Oh what a Oh what a pickle for these people There’s nothing like it There’s nothing like it There’s nothing like it Around here There’s nothing like it There’s nothing like it There’s nothing like it Around here Four miles (four miles) Five miles (five miles) For free parking Six miles (six miles) Seven miles (seven miles) For free parking You’re gonna drive me wild Shoulda got the underground again Can you get me out of town? We’ll split the petrol money Are you happy? Well are you happy with this? You’re gonna drive me wild Shoulda got the underground again Can you get me out of town? I gotta ask you Is this what you wanted? Is this what you paid for? We go on (we go on) We go on (we go on) We go on We go on We go on We go on, we go on, we go There’s nothing like it There’s nothing like it Five miles, six miles There’s nothing like it around here There’s nothing like it There’s nothing like it Six miles, seven miles There’s nothing like it around here There’s nothing like it There’s nothing like it Five miles, six miles There’s nothing like it around here There’s nothing like it There’s nothing like it Six miles, seven miles There’s nothing like it around here

You won’t stop the wheels from turning Round and round You can’t stop the gears from churning You can read the terms of service And read them again You can write a book you can go to church All you mathematicians, statisticians Signing your petitions, listen This is how it works You won’t stop the wheels from turning Round and round You can’t stop the gears from churning You won’t stop the wheels from turning Round and round You can’t stop the fire from burning Someone’s cut the breaks on this contraption We’re quickly gaining traction There is no turning back so So sit back relax Make a silly face as a distraction To those too dumb to grasp that Impact is at the end of the tracks for This thing called Life, it’s just a hill Life it’s just a hill. Life it’s just a hill And we are all Just rolling down Life, it’s just a hill Life it’s just a hill. Life it’s just a hill And we are all Just rolling down You won’t stop the wheels from turning Round and round You can’t stop the gears from churning You won’t stop the wheels from turning Round and round You can’t stop the fire from burning Can’t stop propellers from twirling Round and round Can’t stop the engines from whirring Won’t stop the money from flowing In and out Can’t stop the weeds from growing You won’t stop the wheels from turning Round and round You can’t stop the gears from churning You won’t stop the wheels from turning Round and round You can’t stop the fire from burning We are just rolling We are just, we are just We are just rolling We are just, we are just We are just rolling We are just, we are just We are just rolling We are just, we are just

about

We recorded Quarrels in Leeds which is quickly becoming a bit of a second hometown for us; we worked with producer Matt Peel for the first time which was a delight - working with Matt taught us to rethink our approach to recording in a lot of really positive ways. Alongside our amazing friend and artist Annie Mackinnon (who did all the artwork) we settled on the medieval theme for the artwork/EP title. It felt appropriate because the themes of the EP songs portray such a regressive, post-Brexit reflection of British life and society that at this moment in time it can feel a little like we've moved backwards to a very hostile, brutal country that's totally out of step with modern aspirations. Not to mention it was also loads of fun commissioning a painting of Nick T being literally murdered by the other band members and an assortment of medieval beasts. The songs feel stronger and more decisive stylistically and lyrically than anything we've done before and we're really proud of the material.
